A Crypto Pot Game with a Twist

Last week we told you about the very first blockchain development project that we did as a company. That project, like we said, turned out to be the perfect way to break the ice with blockchain. Soon after, before we even realized, we had done quite a few projects for a variety of clients across the world — each more challenging and more interesting than the one before.

One of such more interesting projects is what is called as PlayWinEther. Though the concept behind this looks pretty simple, it is highly innovative and interesting at a variety of levels. PlayWinEther is a nice game in which there are 2 pots with one of the pots running every 5 minutes and another running every 10 minutes.

The idea is that the user/player will have to deposit Ethereum into either of these pots and whoever is the one who deposits into the pot the last (as the timer runs down) will be declared as the winner. With the transaction times of the ETH network being variable, it provides for a lot of ingenuity on the part of the user to make sure that he deposits at the right time so that he can become a part of the specific pot.

The twist in the tale, as far as this game is concerned is that unlike other games, the focus is not on the winner and it is not about finishing the game as soon as possible. Each player is paid a dividend, a payout from each deposit that is made after his own. This is kind of a dividend in the share market where you are rewarded for buying and holding a share and the dividend is proportional to the way the company performs.

Likewise, here, the dividend is generated as long as deposits happen and the pot grows in value and 60% of each deposit goes back to all the previous depositors. So, if you think about it, the longer the game runs, the more beneficial it is for the players and they are likely to earn more than by just winning it. Social gaming at its peak where the target of the group becomes more important and bigger than that of the individual.

The dividend payout and lining up the transactions for it to be processed by the ETH network presented a bit of an interesting challenge but we did manage to break that and move ahead and we were glad to see it going live and being appreciated by the players in the game!
